TAG HEUER TAKES POLE POSITION AT THE 2015 GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED

#DontCrackUnderPressure is the ultimate challenge for this year’s FoS theme ‘Flat-out and Fearless: Racing on the Edge’

  • In 2015 TAG Heuer celebrates the fifth year as the official timing partner of the Goodwood Festival of Speed with its strongest ever presence at the event.
  • TAG Heuer motor-racing exhibition showcasing a McLaren MP4/4, a McLaren MP4-26, the GT-R LM Nismo fresh from Le Mans and helicopter gas turbine engine ‘MadMax’ bike.
  • Visitors to the TAG Heuer stand will also be able to test their potential as racing drivers on a range of interactive motor racing games.
  • Unique badge for the Driver’s Club designed by Christoph Behling.
  • Five exclusive watch launches including two Carrera Calibre 16 Senna, two new Senna editions based on the ever popular Formula One model and the McLaren limited edition.
  • On the same weekend TAG Heuer, founding partner and the official time keeper, will also have a presence at the final event of the 2015 FIA Formula E Championship

TAG Heuer will mark its fifth year as the official timing partner of the world renowned Goodwood Festival of Speed with its strongest ever presence at the event - and a comprehensive selection of attractions which no fan of cars, motorcycles or watches will want to miss.

A particular highlight of the TAG Heuer stand, which forms part of the official TAG Heuer Driver’s Club, will be an exhibition of ultra high-performance two and four wheeled vehicles - not least of which is a McLaren MP4/4 Formula One car originally driven by the late, legendary TAG Heuer ambassador Ayrton Senna during the 1988 season when he took the chequered flag on eight occasions to win the Grand Prix of San Marino, Canada, Japan, Great Britain, Germany, Hungary, Belgium and the United States.

The MP4/4 is the most successful F1 car ever built, but it was raw and basic compared with the state-of-the-art McLaren MP4-26 that will also be on display. Its presence on the stand offers visitors a rare chance to get close to a current Formula One car and, together with the MP4/4, will help to illustrate the 30-year relationship between McLaren and TAG Heuer - the longest partnership between a watch brand and a constructor in the history of the sport.

TAG Heuer’s backing of Nissan GTR Nismo racing, which was announced earlier this year, will also be highlighted by the presence of the remarkable TAG Heuer sponsored GT-R LM Nismo which will appear at Goodwood fresh from competing at the Le Mans 24 hours.

The fourth and final machine on display will be a remarkable record-breaking motorcycle powered by a helicopter gas turbine engine. The ‘MadMax’ bike, which belongs to Guernsey-based TAG Heuer collector Zef Eisenberg, was developed and built on the island and is capable of 225mph.

INTERACTIVE ELEMENTS

Visitors to the TAG Heuer stand will also be able to test their potential as racing drivers on a range of interactive motor racing games, as well as two superbly realistic Gran Turismo simulators which will feature the Goodwood Hill Climb. Inside the Driver’s Club, meanwhile, there will also be a GT simulator on which visitors will be able to compete against times set by any of the professional drivers who use it.

The three people who record the highest scores, from either the Drivers Club or the stand simulators, during the weekend will receive a range of TAG Heuer accessories.

The popular Batak machine, which is used to test and sharpen the reflexes of top drivers, will also be available to try - along with a traditional Scalextric slot racing track.

UNIQUE BADGE FOR THE DRIVER’S CLUB - AND FIVE EXCLUSIVE WATCH LAUNCHES.

Those fortunate enough to be offered access to the Driver’s Club - where racing legends taking part in the Festival of Speed go to eat, rest and relax between ascents of the hill - will each be presented with a unique badge created by TAG Heuer designer Christoph Behling, while the boutique will offer the first chance to see the four all-new Senna TAG Heuer watches and the McLaren limited edition.

Included among the new pieces are four models, which celebrate the on-going role of Ayrton Senna as a TAG Heuer ambassador. The first is the Carrera Calibre 16 Senna, which is available with a polished and brushed steel case and an anthracite dial on a stainless steel bracelet, or with a blackened titanium case, black dial and rubber, tyre tread strap.

There are also two new Senna editions based on the ever popular Formula One model, plus a McLaren special edition, which marks TAG Heuer’s 30 year collaboration with the constructor. Each of the 5,000 examples will be individually numbered and feature a special McLaren bezel and black and red striped ‘NATO’ style strap.

NOT JUST GOODWOOD....

The Goodwood weekend is going to be a busier one than usual for TAG Heuer because, in tandem with the Festival of Speed, the watch brand celebrated for its associations with motorsport will also have a presence at the final event of the 2015 FIA Formula E Championship for electric, single-seater racing cars - of which it is a founding partner and the official time keeper, as well as being partner of China Team and Mahindra Team.

Furthermore, TAG Heuer will be supporting Bruno Senna race in FE. Being Ayrton Senna’s nephew and a top driver in Formula E, the world’s newest and only exclusively electric open championship, Bruno Senna represents the perfect link between TAG Heuer’s past, present and future commitments to motor racing

The closing race of the season takes place at London’s Battersea Park on Sunday, June 28th
