Press Release

Patrouille des Glaciers 2018

TAG Heuer, the Official Watch of this legendary mountain race, is also a partner of the Raiffeisen teams, one of which is led by Friend of the Brand Emily Vaudan, winner of the Petite Patrouille in 2016.

In 2016, TAG Heuer announced its appointment as Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the Patrouille des Glaciers, a legendary military race held every two years in the magnificent mountains of the Canton of Valais.  For this edition, the Swiss watchmaker is very proud to also be supporting the Raiffeisen team, which comprises two men's teams and two women's teams.

Among the competitors is Friend of the Brand and endurance athlete, Emily Vaudan, winner of numerous trails and the Petite Patrouille des Glaciers in 2016. She is one of those rare committed and inspirational athletes who ooze humanity, yet are still able to push their limits to the maximum in extreme environments.

Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer and Chairman of the Watch Division of LVMH Group, said: "The Patrouille des Glaciers is one of Switzerland's most legendary races. I am particularly proud that the Swiss army has chosen TAG Heuer as its partner, and also to be able to support the Raiffeisen competitors. These are teams of talented and passionate athletes who love the mountains and the sport, and who give their all in pursuit of the summit. TAG Heuer wishes them the best of luck in the 2018 edition!"

The PDG is the world's most famous international military ski mountaineering race. Organised by the Swiss army, it is also open to civilian teams. The race is characterised by the length and altitude of the course profile, and by the extreme demands of the Alpine environment. Held every two years, this one-of-a-kind event is becoming increasingly popular, with more than 5000 competitors taking part every year. This year's event will take place from 17th to 21st April 2018 on two routes, from Zermatt to Verbier and from Arolla to Verbier.

To mark the occasion, TAG Heuer has developed a watch in honour of this legendary race. The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Special Edition Patrouille des Glaciers. This sporty, understated model with a grey dial bearing the red logo of the PDG features a black rubber strap for maximum comfort in extreme conditions. The watch is already available in Switzerland from the brand's online shop at www.tagheuer.com
